Far more imnportant than who wrote the Ten Commandments and when they were written is who read them and lives by them. We can argue about the author but not about the eternal value of the what "he" wrote.
Looking at the Ten Commandments, we see five "do" and four "don't do". The link is the fifth commandment
"Kabet es avicho v'es imecho" ... "Honor your mother and your father...". By honoring our parents, we will, automatically live by the other nine. They are our link to G-d.
